IN THE VALLEY OF THE FALLS
Wake Robin Inn is an active supporter of national designation for the Upper Housatonic Valley Heritage Area. Encompassing 29 communities in northwestern Connecticut and western Massachusetts, the upper Housatonic Valley is considered by many to be the quintessential civilized, independent, and thoughtful retreat. Find out more about this designation effort.
By any name, this little corner of Connecticut offers a rare combination of activity, history and scenic charm. There is something for everyone within easy driving distance of Wake Robin Inn.
On its own, the picturesque town of Lakeville offers swimming and boating on Lake Wonoskopomuc, less than half a mile away. Also close by: the Appalachian Trail, golf, bike rentals, nature walks or horseback riding. On the Housatonic River, rafting, canoeing, water-skiing as well as fly-fishing are some of the favorite recreational activities.
Four art galleries are within minutes of the Inn, so some writers have dubbed Lakeville-Salisbury "Little Chelsea." Lime Rock Park and Skip Barber Racing School are less than 10 minutes from the Inn. Antique merchants dot Route 7 into Massachusetts, creating easy opportunities for day trips in the spring, summer and fall. A rich arts and culture tradition offers guests theater venues as renowned as Tanglewood and Music Mountain. Wine trails and excellent restaurants thrive in the northwest corner.
Seasonal menus from our favorite local establishments are available at the front desk.
